At the final meeting before their Summer break, the officers of Bovey Tracey Lodge 8698 worked a remarkable double Fellow Craft Ceremony for two friends who were recent initiates.

8698 bovey tracey double

(L-R), Bro Martyn Brooks (JD, father & proposer); Bro Thomas Brooks; WM John McDowell; Bro Tristan Allen; Bro James Hodge-Brooks (Acting SD & Proposer).

A new experience for all concerned, the Director of Ceremonies, WBro Charlie Peace said he was delighted and relieved to report that all went smoothly and was well received by those attending. He was grateful for the support and input from various Worshipful Brethren during the preparation and rehearsals for the ceremony and especially grateful for the efforts of Junior Warden, Brother James Hodge-Brooks, who acted as Senior Deacon and whose suggestions on the perambulation proved essential to the success of the ceremony. The Worshipful Master and the officers delivered a very creditable performance, as did Brother Neil Chappel with the Second Degree Working Tools.

WBro John Radford acted as Inner Guard and WBro Carlos Pires acted as Junior Warden.

There was a touching moment under 3rd Rising, when WBro Radford, aged 90, announced that, sadly, this would be his last meeting at 8698, as he is moving away to be close to family. He intends to maintain his membership but he does not expect to attend any further masonic meetings. It will be an anxious time for WBro John and Doreen - we wish them well.
