Lodge of Sincerity, No.189 celebrates 250 years.
On the evening of the 25th November 2019 The Worshipful Master Officers and Brethren together with their distinguished guests met at Mount Edgcumbe Masonic Hall Plymouth for a Celebration of 250 Years of The Lodge. On the 25th November 1769 at the Three Crowns Public House on the Barbican in Plymouth only a few hundred yards from where we now meet, our illustrious founders held the consecration meeting.
A packed temple of nearly 120 brethren were firstly addressed by V.W.Bro. N. Ball DPGM who drew many comparisons between historical events that had happened around the time of the consecration. The Lodge Historian W.Bro C. Maynard then delivered a history of the Lodge which he dedicated to W.Bro Richard Beeson who had contributed to the content but sadly had passed away a few months ago. W.Bro. G. Lea The Provincial Grand Chaplain then delivered an Oration to the Lodge followed by a blessing.
At the conclusion of the celebration W.Bro John Smerdon PAGDC took a number of commemorative photographs to mark the event.
All present then retired and were treated to a five-course celebration dinner in the refectory at the conclusion of which a raffle and auction raised nearly £1000 for charity. In addition, the Lodge donated a further £250 to the MCF 2023 Festival.
An unforgettable evening was enjoyed by all and again showcasing Devonshire Freemasonry at its best.
