9720 Brian Adams 50 years certificateOn Monday 30th September, I attended The Noontide Lodge No. 9720 to present W. Bro Brian R Adams PAGStdB with our Provincial Grand Master’s certificate to mark his having served fifty years as a freemason, firstly in West Malaysia and now in this wonderful Province of Devonshire.

The Lodge carried out its business meeting and then closed. The Ladies then joined the Brethren in the Temple and were given an interesting talk on the National Trust house at Coleton Fishacre, which was very well received.

I then presented W.Bro Brian with his certificate, explaining how he came to be in the Middle East. It was during his twenty-four-year service in the Royal Air Force, that Lodge Johore Royal No 3946 EC West Malaysia were celebrating their fifty years of working, and they wanted as part of their celebrations a candidate to initiate and Brian found himself in the right place at the right time.

He was initiated on the 16th July 1969, Passed to the Second Degree on 17th September 1969 and Raised to the Third Degree on the 18th March 1970, and repatriated to the United Kingdom in July 1970.

Brian became a joining member of Salem Lodge No. 1443 having been proposed by his father W.Bro Wilf Adams. Brian progressed through the chair of Salem Lodge holding the office of Secretary for thirteen years and Director of Ceremonies for three years.

Brian was a founder member of The Noontide Lodge No. 9720 and has held the office of Secretary for seventeen years. Brian has worked hard for the Province having organised the Annual Provincial Luncheons for a total of seventeen years and many other functions. He is also the Secretary of The Provincial General Purposes committee. I was able to also speak about his business and family life and of his many Masonic honours.

In presenting the certificate, I gave the best wishes and congratulations of our Provincial Grand Master Rt W.Bro Ian Kingsbury. It was good to have had the ladies present to enjoy the occasion. Brian thanked me for the way I had prepared and presented the certificate and all present showed their appreciation in the usual way.

All then retired for an excellent meal and a complimentary drink on Brian ending yet again another happy masonic meeting.
