Provincial Grand Lodge for the Province of Devonshire was held once again at The Riviera International Conference Centre at Torquay on Monday 15th April 2019. Over 500 Brethren assembled during the morning for the 3 course Banquet Lunch. The Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Ian Kingsbury at the Lunch thanked all the brethren along with many distinguished guests from the many other orders in our Province as well as PGM’s , DPGM’s APGM’s, Secretaries and others active Provincial Officers, from the many other provinces around the country who attended and took time out to support this special day of the year for Devonshire Masonry. After the luncheon the Brethren assembled in the main arena joined by another 100 plus Brethren not dining, making a total of over 600 attending.
Provincial Grand Lodge was then opened by our PGM who was then saluted by all the brethren, the distinguished brethren were then received and saluted. The meeting commenced as per the agenda in the latest addition of the Devonshire Mason 2018 Reports booklet including the appointment of the two new Wardens, W.Bro Robert Summers ProvGSW of Fortiscue Lodge No. 847 and W.Bro Anthony Eldred ProvJGW, Lodge of Felicity No. 5336 and the rest of his officers for the year. The Provincial Grand Master then gave his address (which can be found on the welcome page of this website). There was a presentation of a cheque to the PGM for £2023.00 by last years Warden W.Bro’s Jeffery and Ruston for the 2023 MCF Festival donated from the Active Provincial Officers at Installation Festive Boards. This was followed by another cheque from W.Bro. Alan Gill for £1640.20 from Dartmoor Breweries Ltd from the sales of Festival Beer at Lodges festive boards. Lastly the Deputy Provincial Grand Master VW. Bro. Nicholas Ball presented a Cheque to the 2023 MCF Festival as Chairman of The Devonshire Benevolent Fund for £50,000.00. The Chairman of the 2023 Festival, W.Bro. Christopher Yard responded with an announcement that this cheque brought the total so far raised for the Festival to £1 Million pounds. A collection of Alms & a closing Hymn sung before the meeting was closed. Provincial Grand Lodge will be held next year on Monday 20th April 2020.
