Devonshire Freemasons will be holding a series of Building Together face-to-face training sessions across the county during October, giving members practical ideas for helping Lodges and Chapters remain welcoming, active and sustainable.
The sessions are designed around something that matters to every local Masonic group: attracting new members, helping them settle in, and making sure people continue to enjoy and value their Freemasonry. Rather than simply concentrating on recruitment, Building Together looks at the whole experience — from someone’s first interest in Freemasonry through to becoming an established and engaged member.
Five sessions are being held around Devon, making it easier for members to attend one locally:
- Friday 9 October, 7pm – Honiton Masonic Hall
- Monday 12 October, 6.30pm – Barnstaple Masonic Hall
- Thursday 22 October, 7pm – Manadon Masonic Hall, Plymouth
- Wednesday 28 October, 7pm – St Marychurch Masonic Hall, Torquay
- Saturday 31 October, 10am – Okehampton Masonic Hall
The training will offer practical advice on growing and retaining membership in both Craft Freemasonry and the Royal Arch. It will be particularly useful for those whose roles involve membership, mentoring, welfare or the running of a Lodge or Chapter, although its wider theme is relevant to everyone with an interest in helping Freemasonry thrive. For members of the public who may come across Building Together, the programme reflects an important part of modern Freemasonry that is not always visible from the outside: considerable thought goes into how new members are welcomed, supported and encouraged to become part of their local group and community.
